Help Hair Loss with DIY Masks
by Alexandra Kilpatrick

Hair loss affects 80 percent of men and 15 percent of women in their lifetimes. But fret not, the solution to the problem could be found in your kitchen.
Many hair loss sufferers spend a small fortune on expensive protein-filled products intended to combat the hair fall. They could instead effectively and inexpensively treat the hair loss by throwing any number of ingredients found in their kitchens into inexpensive do-it-yourself hair mask creations.
The Potato Hair Mask
What few people know about potatoes is that they actually contain more vitamin C than oranges do. This rich vitamin C supply allows the starchy vegetable to play quite an important role in treating hair loss.
To create the perfect potato hair mask, peel, grate and juice one large potato into a bowl and mix in two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and two tablespoons of honey. Stir this potato, aloe and honey mixture until the honey dissolves. Apply the mask and rub it into your scalp for a few minutes, before covering your head with a shower cap and towel. Leave the mask for two hours then wash it off with warm water.
The Fenugreek Hair Mask
Commonly known as 'methi,' fenugreek seeds are effective in strengthening hair from the roots and treating follicular problems and, in turn, hair loss.
Keep fenugreek seeds overnight in enough water to soak them, then grind them into a thick mixture the following morning. Leave the thick fenugreek pate on your scalp for about 20 minutes then massage gently before washing it away with a mild shampoo.
The Honey Hair Mask
Honey, a useful ingredient in fighting hair loss, tends to be used as simply one of the components in a hair mask.
To create a primarily honey-based hair mask, mix a spoonful of honey with castor oil, egg yolk and a tablespoon of rum. Apply the mask thoroughly from the roots to the ends, then cover your head with a plastic bag and a warm towel, leaving the mask for two hours before rinsing thoroughly with water.
The Olive Oil and Almond Oil Hair Mask
Almond oil is a revolutionary treatment for hair loss sufferers. Simply mix equal parts olive oil and almond oil to make the hair mask, then apply throughout your hair and massage it well into your roots. Wrap your head with a plastic bag and leave it on for at least two hours if not overnight.
The Onion Hair Mask
The most recommended for hair masks, onions are a strong natural remedy against hair loss. Collect the onion's out peels, blend them finely and extract the liquid with a sieve cloth. Apply the liquid onto your head or apply the blended onion paste directly. Keep the mask on for about 30 minutes before washing thoroughly to rid the hair of the onion's powerful smell. Repeat as often as possible in one week and you should see noticeable results within a month.
