Hair Loss Expert on Beard Transplants and Celebrity Scruff with Howard Stern

Nationally renowned hair loss expert Dr. Alan J. Bauman recently discussed beard transplants and celebrity scruff on Howard Stern’s popular radio show.
The hipster trend is credited for the increase in beard transplants, but the increase in celebrities sporting perfectly manicured beards and scruff has contributed to the demand of the treatment.
Dr. Bauman discussed the process behind the beard transplant and dished on which stars have the best facial hair.
“Today’s stars’ facial hair may come and go… the most requested looks are still the iconic Tom Sellack ‘stache and Elvis’ sideburns,” Bauman revealed during an interview with the Digital Journal.
While the 7,000 dollar procedure might sound extreme, beard transplants have become more routine at Bauman Medical Group in recent years.
“Like many clinics across the country, we’re seeing an increase in men opting to take advantage of the state-of-the-art technology that allows us to restore or enhance areas of facial hair,” Bauman told the Digital Journal. Bauman helped pioneer new eyelash transplant techniques in 2001.

Beard transplants
Artistically placing follicular units into a beard area can restore or enhance lacking facial hair areas. Specific attention needs to be paid to the angle, orientation and position of each individual graft to achieve a 100 percent natural looking and aesthetically pleasing result. The transplanted hair needs to be trimmed routinely, since the hair continues to live and grow naturally in the new location.
