Eyebrow Fashions Help Promote Interest in Eyebrow Restoration

by Alexandra Kilpatrick

The eighties eyebrow style was all about full and bushy, with celebrities like Brooke Shields and Madonna flashing strong natural-looking brows. It seems that bushy eyebrows have made a comeback with models and actors sporting the brow style everywhere from the red carpet to New York and London fashion weeks. As the brow struts back into the eyes of style, many are now considering eyebrow restoration treatments as a worthwhile investment.

Keeping Your Brows In Fashion

Everyone from model Nargis Fakhri to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has been flaunting the look, with model Cara Delevingne taking the trend a step further by actually dyeing her eyebrows blue! And besides otherworldly fashion statements, Jessica Alba wore fuzzy arches with natural-looking makeup at Paris Fashion Week. It’s not unlikely that many women are intrigued by eyebrow restoration due to these subsequent fashion possibilities that will accompany thicker hair.

Although the head is the most common area for hair loss, eyebrow hair also thins and gets sparser as you age and following serious injury or illness. Similar to scalp hair treatments, there are eyebrow hair transplants that require donor hair.

What Can I Expect From An Eyebrow Transplant?

With added style bonuses and the desire to stave off the effects of aging, women are strongly considering eyebrow restoration transplants to achieve a thicker look. Now, woman (and yes, even you, men) won’t have to worry about carefully highlighting and shadowing just the right contours surrounding thin or light eyebrows.

Compared to a full scalp hair transplant, eyebrow restoration is a relatively lower scale procedure. Hair transplants require donor hairs from different parts of the body to be collected, stored, and implanted into the desired area. Often, the donor hair for eyebrow restoration is located on the back of the head. Depending on extraction method- whether it be a strip harvest method or follicle-by-follicle follicular unit extraction (FUE)- the procedure yields anywhere between 50-300 donor hair follicles for a single eyebrow.

Each donor hair is systematically implanted into the recipient eyebrow site, where extremely careful care is required for several months so that they are not disturbed or damaged. Permanent eyebrow restoration results occur usually after 6 months. Initially the new hairs will fall out, but like with most hair transplants, this is a perfect sign that the new follicles have started their life cycle.

Style & Swagger After Eyebrow Restoration

Shaily Khera, a Delhi-based ‘fashionista’ claims that the bushy brow works best on those with a square face and a more defined jawline, but admits that anyone can pull off the look with the right amount of confidence. It is also suggested that women with fuller eyebrows subconsciously emit a stronger projection of confidence and assertiveness.

Make-up artist Fanny Aubin of Mumbai's Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa, offers tips on how to achieve the bushy brow look.

Aubin first recommends allowing the brows to grow out for length and thickness. She then advises brushing the brows upwards to check the brow length and see where the hairs naturally lie. Once the brows have reached an ideal level of fullness, Aubin suggests removing hair between the eyes, to avoid a monobrow, by plucking the hairs one at a time and in the direction of natural growth. If brows remain too thin, Aubin recommends expanding them and fill in any gaps with a dark brown matte eye pencil or eye shadow. Avoid black and apply a clear mascara or lip balm to keep them in place for the rest of the day! Et Voila! Perfect new bushy eyebrows and a unique new style thanks to eyebrow restoration transplants and just the right amount of swagger !
