Bald Men Turn to Micropigmentation

According to CBS 2 in New York, bald men are increasingly turning to an ink procedure called micropigmentation as a permanent cure for their male pattern baldness.
Similar to getting a tattoo, the process uses a small three-point needle to create the look of a closely shaved head.
It’s an ink we apply to the head to make it look like men have hair,” Julissa Rosado of His Hair Clinic told CBS 2.
Tattoo artists simply apply small dots to the scalp to recreate the look of lost hair. The procedure is popular among male Hollywood celebrities like Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Pitbull.
“We are poking little dots to match your hair follicles,” Rosado explained to CBS 2.
“First thing we do is mark the head with a pencil before we make it permanent,” micropigmentation practitioner Orian Barzily told CBS 2.
The process tends to take two to three treatments to fill in the scalp for a natural close-cropped look. Costs range from 1,600 to 5,000 dollars.
Client Anthony Castilgi told CBS 2 that micropigmentation changed his life.
“I wanted to look at myself…to feel confident and not hate what I see in the mirror,” Castilgi told CBS 2.
Another customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, told CBS 2 that he tried everything to treat his hair loss.
“I’ve been through…doing rollers on your head with the needles to get some hair to grow,” the customer told CBS 2. “I’ve done Rogaine. I’ve done Propecia. I’ve gone every single route. You look at the hero, always shaved head, and that’s what the girls like. That’s what I like.”
Barzily underwent the procedure as well, before he became a practitioner.
“I’ve gone through four hair transplants,” Barzily told CBS 2. “Over 30,000 down the drain on procedures that didn’t take. This is the only thing that worked. Before that, I lived under a hat. Now my hats decorate my walls.”
