Apple Fans, Beware: The Latest iPhone Could Lead to Hair Loss

by April Maguire

Disappointed that you can’t afford to upgrade to the latest iPhone model? You may want to count your blessings, as multiple news outlets are reporting that the much touted iPhone 6 doesn’t quite live up to the hype.

It’s no secret that the iPhone was a momentous invention, revolutionizing the ways in which people talk, text, and interact online since its launch in 2007. And while Apple aficionados lined up for this fall’s release of the iPhone 6—and its sister smartphone the iPhone 6 Plus—some customers are less than satisfied with their purchases. After initial reports that the 6 has an unfortunate habit of bending in users’ pockets, the Internet is now abuzz with a new phenomenon known as Hairgate.

Understanding Hairgate 2014

As much a convenience as a status symbol, the iPhone looks great tucked into your coat pocket or purse. However, if you’re planning to put your new iPhone 6 up against your head at any point, you may be in for a nasty surprise. According to multiple users, the latest model iPhone has an unhappy habit of catching bits of hair in the gap between glass and aluminum. Once hair becomes caught in the seam, there’s no way to remove it without a serious ouch factor, when users pull their phones away from their heads.

While men may assume that they’re immune to Hairgate, the truth is that the iPhone 6 doesn’t discriminate, catching on beard and mustache hairs just as easily as the ones on people’s heads. Dubbed Hairgate, this phenomenon may lead callers to put down their iPhones and pick up the Rogaine.

Of course, there are those who believe Hairgate is nothing but a hoax. According to Forbesand other sites, the space between the glass and aluminum on the iPhone 6 isn’t wide enough to allow for even a single strand of hair. Some iPhone aficionados are even suggesting that Hairgate was a myth created to drum up business for Samsung products!

Still Hair for the Taking

Despite this potentially significant flaw, and the seriously significant price tag, plenty of people are still jumping on the 6 bandwagon, if the sales figures are any indication. After all, what’s a little hair loss when you can enjoy enhanced WiFi while taking photos of your cat with your new iSight camera?

If you or someone you know would like to learn more about hair loss and how to treat it, please feel free to schedule a consultation or contact one of our representatives today!
