Trending Now: Salon Owner Dedicated to Helping Hair Loss Victims wins Entrepreneur of the Year

by Matthew Dello Russo

Simone Thomas, founder of Crowning Glory Hair, a hair salon and non-surgical hair loss clinic, was selected as the recipient of the UK’s Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in London. Crowning Glory was designed specifically to help those suffering from chronic hair loss or thinning hair, and in doing so, has helped 100,000 men, women and children worldwide.

Thomas is no stranger to the daily struggles associated with hair loss. Having lost her hair twice to alopecia, she had exhausted every avenue when searching for a way to cover up her condition. Thomas opened Crowning Glory with a very specific mission: to offer world-class hair services at an affordable price.

“To be able to help clients on a regional, national and international basis is what drives me. We will continue to grow and provide the best service experience to our customers,” she said at the awards show.

Her interactions with local clinics and treatment systems left her disheartened, inspiring her to take classes, entailing Specialist Hair Extensions and Hair Loss Systems. Thomas knew from personal experience that there were glaring gaps in the market when it came to available hair loss treatments. The only viable option? Close those gaps by starting a business catering to individuals in similar situations, suffering from hair loss caused by a range of conditions including male and female pattern baldness, telogen effluvium, alopecia.

Thomas considers the salon’s mission to be her life’s work. In just three years, she has become known as one of the UK’s leading experts in hair loss. The salon has helped identify replacement solutions for clients worldwide. She said: “I am so pleased to have won this amazing award. It feels so rewarding to be recognized for all the hard work that’s been put into turning my business into the success it is today.”

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards is in its third year, and was hosted by fellow entrepreneurs Oli Barret and Caprice Bourrett. A record number of applications were received this year, for categories ranging from ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ to ‘Creative Entrepreneur of the Year’.
