New Face of Pantene Selena Gomez Shares Hair Care Tips

by Angela Santoriello

Calling Selena Gomez a hair goddess, Twist magazine reports how the brown-haired beauty whose “tresses are always on point” is sharing her secrets with the world.

Since announcing she is the new Pantene model on Instagram by sharing pics of the photo shoot and her perfectly in-place hair, the 23-year-old got right to the point."The best hair trick I learned, and I feel like all my girls will agree, is dry shampoo. It's awesome," said Gomez.

As for accessories, the young singer goes ‘80s when it comes to hair wear. "My favorite hair accessory is a scrunchie. I know it's kind of old school but it's really cute when you put your hair up and you let a few pieces come down. It's nice," she said.

Citing the video interview himself, celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton notes how aside from loving that the singer Googles herself and disses her past outfits, he also admires how she admits to eyelash and hair extensions. “It makes me feel pretty,” said Gomez of the added faux tresses.

“All this hair isn't mine—I have extensions as a sort of safety net when I'm on stage. It's really nice to have the long mermaid hair to move around while you’re being blasted with the fans up there,” she said, adding she uses a special brush that reaches the roots of the extensions that are glued in with a protein bond.

It’s also about the product as well, with Gomez boasting the U Luxury Shampoo and Conditioner brand. “If they get tangled, I spray some of the Unite 7Seconds Condition Leave In Detangler in my hair, and in literally one second of brushing the tangles go away," she shared.

But it was not always lovely locks for Gomez, who shared how like most she too suffered horrific grade-school hair of her own doing. "My biggest hair mistake [was from] when I was younger and I was figuring out how to use a flat iron," said Gomez. "I used to think that as long as I could see this hair [in front of my face] was straight, then the back didn't necessarily need to be straight. So for the entire sixth grade, I only straightened the front of my hair. That wasn't really my proudest moment.”

Still straightening her hair, Gomez said she has “gotten good at hiding all of my baby hairs,” that are often “wavy and frizzy” due to her Latin background. “You obviously always want what you don't have, which is why I wear it straight so often,” said Gomez, noting going all natural by “trying to wear it beachy” helps her remain true to herself.

“The Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Hairspray or the Dry Texturizing Spray are really good for that,” shares the star, not frightened to give away her secrets to fans, and even haters, who want to look like her.
