7 New Year’s Resolutions to Improve Your Hair in 2016

by April Maguire

A new year is upon us, and that means it’s time to create a list of self-improvement resolutions. While your promises to exercise seven days a week or to only eat junk food every other Saturday may be a tad too lofty, resolutions regarding hair care are easy to keep and can greatly benefit the health of one of your most important features. So what hair care resolutions should be on your list for 2016? Check out the list below to find out.

Less Heat

High heat may help with styling, but it can wreak havoc on your lovely locks. As often as possible, you should skip the blow-out, put down the flat iron and take it easy with the hair dryer to give your hair a break from the heat.

Stay Cool

If excessive heat is bad, then keeping your hair cool is good, right? Absolutely. Try to keep your shower water at a reasonable temperature in order to keep your hair from drying out.

Do More at Home

Your stylist is an expert, sure, but that doesn’t mean you should let him or her do all the work. In between appointments, try some at-home solutions, such as a deep-conditioning mask or a DIY all-natural treatment to give your hair a nice pick-me-up.

Up the Shine Factor

If your hair is dull and frizzy, now is the perfect time to bring back the shine. Find a high-quality mask or leave-in treatment to infuse your hair with essential vitamins and nutrients and get your shine back.

Wash Up After the Gym

A lot of us lead busy lives, and showering immediately after working out isn’t always practical. Unfortunately, leaving sweat and dirt in your hair even for a couple of hours can take its toll, so give your hair a nice wash after working out, even if it’s with dry shampoo.

Give Hair Oil a Try

Hair oils provide essential moisture and nourishment for your hair, and if you go with a high-quality, all-natural option, you can avoid products that leave your hair feeling greasy and oily.

Get Regular Trims

Getting regular trims can go a long way toward improving the health of your hair. Not only is it good to have your hair looked at by a professional every month and a half or so, but it also keeps your ends healthy and looking great.

Keeping your hair looking healthy and radiant can sometimes be a challenge. So resolve to make your hair health a top priority for the new year, and see how easy it is to take your locks from ho-hum to fabulous.
